Das Fliegen ist über die Jahrzehnte um einiges billiger geworden und wird in der heutigen Zeit als gängiges Verkehrsmittel angesehen. Heutzutage fliegt man für nur wenige Hundert Euro in der ganzen Weltgeschichte herum und das in nur wenigen Stunden. Zwar fluktuieren die Preise aufgrund des übernatürlich hohen Ölpreises, aber das ist kein Grund, um nicht doch einige unglaubliche Schnäppchen aufzuspüren. Vor allem innerhalb Europas sind die Preise für Direktflüge zum Teil mikroskopisch klein und Angebote wie einen Kurzurlaub in Barcelona, Paris oder London, wo ein Flug nur 29 Euro oder weniger kostet überfluten den Markt. Da kann der kurze Deutschland Urlaub zu einem Hochgenuss für wenig Geld werden. Doch nicht immer sind die verlockenden Angebote auch wirklich totale Schnäppchen.

Ice Cream (or I scream)

Well, I'm in the middle of an adventure...

It's funny how little things cause major trouble. This time the so called little thing took the form of an ice cream covered with chocolate... I had it on Friday evening and the result was seen on the next morning. I had a night full of "Prison Break" themed nightmares. I was digging holes in the wall, shooting guards etc. I woke up with the feeling that I've been hit by a train. the breakfast tasted awful in my mouth, but I forced myself. About an hour later I surrendered and measured my temperature. Ta-da - 39 degrees C. For you, Fahrenheit guys, this is quite a bit of a temperature to have...

First Day, Firs Shift

Well, actually, I was a bit disappointed by myself.
I'm lacking the speed that I need to answer those damn tickets fast... Well, I'm hoping to fix this stuff, otherwise this adventure might turn to be very short for me :)))

Anyway, a few words about the users... Well, as the boss says, they are always right. But, knowing a little bit more English would be great before they try to contact us. The biggest challenge is to understand what that pile of words I'm getting actually means... Well, I'll get used to it, I guess. If I have the chance, of course.

The silly thing is that almost 80% percent of the questions are answered in the FAQ, or you can find a quick solution in Google.

This is a major update...
Freelance years are over. I've sold my ass for a monthly salary...
Well, I don't know if I'm going to make it for very long, but it's worth a try. Anyway, I got fed up being on my own for the last 2.5 years. The change is really welcome. I'm going to work as a customer support at a web hosting company. Really great guys, in fact. I spent the last 2 weeks there as a trainee and the atmosphere is very positive.

The main problem is that I'll have to be working shifts - the support is 24/7... Never really thought about that when talking to my current web-hosting support in the middle of the night... I guess from now on I'll be much more polite when asking them to tweak this or that on national holidays :)

Windows XP, wildcard DNS and localhost subdomains

Well, I killed a whole day yesterday, trying to find a way to setup a wildcard DNS entry for my localhost.
So, I'm running on my Windows XP all the stuff needed for web developing - simple web server (Abyss web server by Aprelium - really cool little server that is a breeze to manage), php and mysql. Everything is working ok. When you enter http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1, or http://192.168.7.2/ (which is my comp IP in the local network) in the browser, it takes you to the web server htdocs where your html, php scripts and whatever else web files are stored. But, you know, I wanted that each possible subdomain like http://anything.localhost goes to the http://localhost htdocs folder too...

My brother is very affected by the diabetes of birth, and me by my allergies. When we were children, my father had a trick which gave us the spirit of valiancy. He always placed us both in the same room to be laid down. Thus when I made a large attack of asthma, my brother awoke all the house with his cries and one went to the hospital. Same manner when my brother made a coma diabetic, it is me which awoke the house and one went to the hospital. Today we are all the two consultants in data processing and electronic communications. In fact, all our family is in data processing!
